What is COVID-19

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses found mostly in animals. In humans, they can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). The disease caused by the new coronavirus has been named COVID-19.

How Does It Spread

Respiratory diseases, like influenza and COVID-19, are spread by liquid droplets that come out of the mouth and nose when a person coughs, sneezes, and sometimes, when a person talks or sings. These droplets usually land one to two metres away, but they can land on another person if they are close by. Diseases can spread if droplets with the virus enter the body through the eyes, nose or throat.  

COVID-19 can also spread by touch. If droplets are left on objects and surfaces after an infected person sneezes, coughs on, or touches them, other people may become infected by touching these objects or surfaces, and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. That’s why we recommend you cough or sneeze into your arm and wash your hands regularly.

What Does That Mean For Massage Treatments at the Studio

At HCM I am dedicated to keeping myself as the practitioner and you as the client safe. These are the steps HCM is implementing to do so

• Face coverings are required for the full duration of the treatment for myself, and the client remove their face cover while facedown, but will be required to wear it during intake, and after the treatment.
  
• Upon entering the space clients are asked to wash their hands
• After the treatment all table coverings are washed and sanitized immediately
• Massage table and all surfaces in the massage space and bathroom are wiped down with a sanitizing spray

Mobile Massage

Mobile Massage is still a great option if you don’t want to travel before or after your treatment. I will be wearing a face covering when entering your space and for the duration of the treatment, clients are required to wear the a face covering before and after the treatment and while they are face up on the table. Cleaning procedures vary from the studio in the following ways

• When I first enter your space I will sanitize my hands before removing the table and fully sanitizing its surfaces
• Sheets are removed from a sanitized and sealed bag
• Oil and Lotion Bottle will be removed from a sanitized sealed bag
• At the end of the treatment I will step out of the room, wash my hands and oil bottles
• Sheets are then placed into a second sealed and sanitized bag, and table is sanitized again before leaving
• Once I have returned to my space, the table is sanitized again, sheets are placed immediately into the wash, bottles and bags are sanitized again as well.
